Robotics Team Reaches Finals
and Wins Award
Columbus, Ohio ---- The Design Factory, Inc. congratulates the Whetstone
High School Robotics Team “Team Lugnut” for their outstanding performance at
the FIRST Robotics Pittsburgh Regional and Buckeye Regional Competitions.
In
early March at the Pittsburgh Regional, Team Lugnut was recognized with a
special Judges Award for the excellent design and implementation of the
ball-grabber end effectors or “hands” on their robot. The judges said, “During
the course of the competition, the judging panel may encounter a team whose
unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition. The judges want
to give a special award today to one such team. This team's robot had clean
lines and was a strong competitor. They continued to improve its
implementation and strategy throughout the competition. In particular, this
team had a strong 2x capping technique with a reliable grabbing arm. The
judges' award for Ball Handling and Herding goes today to Team Lugnuts.”
Two
weeks later in Cleveland, the team rose through the ranks to compete in the
finals for a final standing of 6th out of a field of 60 robots.
